I am not sure, whether grammarians have made, a classification of the genre such as, primary nouns and derived nouns.
I am, with apology to traditional and innovative grammarians, using the term "derived nouns" for such words which are derived from any word including nouns, adjectives and verbs.
I am taking the nouns ending in 'tion' . Most of these words are derived from the verbs.
Examples:
verb: accumulate; derived noun: accumulation.
verb: act; derived noun: action.
verb: inflate; derived noun: inflation.
verb: inoculate; noun:; incoulation.
George Bernard Shaw used total 55 derived words ending in 'tion', in his play 'The Doctor's Dilemma'. (I am subject to err. I have not counted repetitions). I give below the words:
accumulation, action, affectation, affection, affiliation, attention, cation, caution, circulation, combination, complication, condition, congratulation, consolation,Consultation, consumption, conversation, conviction, damnation, demonstration, description, desertion, digestion, distinction,Evolution, exception, explanation, exposition, faction, fascination, formation, generation, imagination, inattention, inclination, indignation, infection, information, inoculation, inspiration, institution, intention, interruption, intimidation, intuition, justification, legation, mention, multiplication, nation, notion, operation, perturbation, qualification, relegation .(total:)55. I have missed some words, apparently.
We can easiy identify the verbs for the words with the exception of condition, mention.
31 of these 'tion' words end in 'ation'.
