ACTIVE VOCABULARY =Vocabulary we use, while speaking and writing. An enriched active vocabulary helps us to become effective speakers and writers. We can add a new word to our active vocabulary, by using that new word at least 20 times with some time gaps.
PASSIVE VOCABULARY =Vocabulary we use, while deciphering the messages received from others. Our passive vocabulary gets enriched, when we read or listen communications from others which contain some new words. Our passive vocabulary gets coloured with the contextual meanings we deduce from the texts we read. Besides, words may have more than just one or two meanings.
• Conscious Additions to our active vocabulary will automatically add up to our passive vocabulary also.
